History
The production of
olive oil in the
Penisola Sorrentina DOP extra virgin olive oil area has ancient origins, dating back at least as far as the Magna Græcia period. Many remains of temples to Minerva have been discovered in which ancient recipients were found for the offering of oil.
Gastronomy
Extra virgin olive oil is easily degradable and must be stored correctly to maintain its unique qualities. It should therefore be kept in a cool, dark place at a temperature between 14 to 18°C, away from sources of heat and away from other foods which produce odours. The
Penisola Sorrentina DOP extra virgin olive oil, due to its intense aroma, is ideal on robust dishes and generally on grilled fish and vegetables.
