Italian Flavour in Ingham

Saturday and Sunday 6th and 7th of August 2016

At the TYTO Precinct (just 500 metres from Ingham's CBD)

Ingham in north Queensland is set to paint the town green, white and red for the 22nd Australian Italian Festival, to be held the 06th-07th of August 2016.

The event was developed from a survey conducted by James Cook University in 1993 that recognised the potential in celebrating the social, economic and cultural contributions that Italian immigrants have made to both Queensland and Australia.

Since the first edition took place in 1995, the event has continued to grow and prosper.

The Australian Italian Festival is held at the TYTO Precinct (just 500 metres from Ingham’s CBD), which is transformed into a huge Italian-style piazza with entertainment set across two stages. This year the entertainment will include free-style Latino dancers, choirs, singers, musicians, fire twirlers and comedians.

Guests will be treated to homemade Italian food, Italian wines, cooking demonstrations, displays, competitions, free amusement rides, market stalls and more.

A series of competitions will be held such as greasy pole climbing, pizza and pasta eating competitions, grape stomping, and gondola races.

There will also be three events in the lead up to the festival: the Hair and Fashion Show, the Australian Italian Model Search and the Gala Masquerade Ball.
